in 2008 from National City Bank where he ran the real estate
investment business for the state of Michigan. Dick’s
responsibilities at SPP include transaction origination, structuring
and due diligence, and tax credit consulting.
During his 28-year economic development and urban investment career,
Dick has lead or been involved with more than 75 real estate
investment and financing transactions representing more than $100
million of equity investment value. Dick has extensive experience
with numerous tax credit investment structures, including historic
tax credits, low-income housing tax credits, brownfield tax credits,
and federal New Markets Tax Credits. He has a particular expertise
in combining structures in highly complex transactions. In addition,
Dick has executed 8 NMTC deals in the state of Michigan which were
the first of their kind in the Midwest.
Dick serves on the Detroit Mayor’s Advisory Board for Neighborhood
Commercial Revitalization and is treasurer for Detroit’s University
Cultural Center Association and the Development Corporation of Wayne
County. Dick is also active with the federal New Markets Tax Credit
program, serving on three Community Development Entities and
participating in the National New Markets Tax Credit Coalition and
the national Alliance for Economic Development.
Dick earned his Master’s degree in Political Science from the
University of Michigan and his Bachelor’s degree from Western
Michigan University. He served from 1962-65 in the United States
Army. Dick lives in Troy, Michigan, married to Bettie, with two sons
in college. |
